One day, a high school teacher changed the routine. Her husband had suddenly died of a heart attack about three weeks earlier. Just before the end of class, she sat on the edge of her desk and said to her students:
Each of us is here to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves. None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. Therefore, we must make the most of every single day. Promise me that from now on, on your way to school or on your way home, you will find beauty to notice. It could be friends or loved ones. It could be a scent, perhaps of freshly baked bread, or the sound of the breeze through the trees, or the way the morning light catches the autumn leaves. Please look for these wonders and cherish them, for they are the real ‘stuff’ of life.”
There were tears in every eye and, that day, lives were changed.
I invite you to join me in heeding this tremendous lesson. The facets and wonders of life and loved ones are so magnificent, and they’re all here for the savoring. This chapter of our ever unfolding lives is over so quickly. Let’s not miss the glory!
